Engaging With Your Voice

Welcome to Your Voice, Aurora!

The City of Aurora is a diverse community of more than 200,000 residents and thousands of visitors who choose to spend their time here. We want to hear and include YOUR VOICE in a variety of the City’s decision-making processes.

Your Voice allows the City of Aurora to reach a broader audience for a higher level of participation, more data, and more knowledge. You can provide input and feedback on select projects anytime and anywhere on your phone, tablet, or computer. This safe online space sets the stage for sustained participation and better results for the community.

By introducing you and other community members to multiple projects, Your Voice helps the City of Aurora hear from and respond to more people – and enables community members to see what others are saying.

How does Your Voice work?

Your Voice connects community members with online engagement tools on specific projects to include and hear from many voices, and to help staff listen and respond to questions and concerns.

We want to ensure a wide range of community members with unique perspectives are participating in the engagement process. With Your Voice, you can:

  • Learn about current and upcoming projects.
  • Provide comments and ask questions.
  • Participate in discussions and hear what neighbors are saying.
  • Communicate with City staff.
  • Complete surveys.
  • Attend meetings and events.
  • Pin comments and ideas to map locations.

Traditionally, the City of Aurora has conducted project engagement during in-person community meetings or online surveys. Your Voice is an innovative way for us to listen to and include the voices of our community early in the planning phases on specific projects to ensure we are listening to your unique perspectives and meeting your communication needs.

Levels of Engagement

The City of Aurora offers a variety of community engagement opportunities based on the nature of each project, including:

  • distributing information for awareness & to answer questions.
  • listening to ideas & feedback.
  • forming partnerships with individuals & organizations to ensure community voices are included early in the planning phases.

Each project’s homepage identifies its level of engagement from among these:

Inform: Provide the community with balanced and objective information and answers to assist in understanding problems, alternatives, opportunities, and/or solutions.

Consult: Obtain community feedback on processes, ideas, alternatives, and/or decisions.

Involve: Work directly with community members to ensure that community feedback influences the process and outcomes or decisions.
