Before moving to Aurora, she taught Math and Computer Science at New Jersey City University, laying the foundation for her deep commitment to learning and community development.

In recognition of her leadership potential, Shweta was selected as an Edgar Fellow (batch of 2022), a prestigious program that brings together emerging leaders from across Illinois to address key issues and challenges facing the state. This experience further honed her skills in public service and collaboration.

Since becoming a resident of Aurora, Shweta has been actively involved in the community, particularly within the Indian Prairie School District 204. She has volunteered at various schools, including Watts Elementary, Hill and Still Middle Schools, and the three major high schools—Metea Valley, Waubonsie Valley, and Neuqua Valley—where she has led initiatives on Art Awareness and STEM Projects. Her volunteer efforts extend to supporting numerous PTA events, such as the Reflections Program, Cultural Interventions, and fundraisers, as well as community-driven activities like electronic recycling, neighborhood clean-ups, and tree plantations.

As a natural leader with a proven track record of organizing successful community events, Shweta has spearheaded initiatives such as Neighborhood Clean-ups, Shred Events, Back to School events, the Fall Family Festival, and Winter Fest, encouraging residents of all ages to volunteer and participate. Her dedication to enhancing the community led her to establish the Ward 10 Grant program, designed to support improvement projects that promote the character, safety, and integrity of the neighborhood. A strong advocate for community safety, Shweta works tirelessly to ensure that all initiatives prioritize the well-being and security of residents.

In addition to her community work, Shweta is the sole proprietor of a successful information technology, analytics, and data science firm. She has consulted for major businesses, including BMO Harris and Chase banks, leading interdisciplinary teams across the United States and Canada.

Beyond her professional and civic accomplishments, Shweta is also an accomplished artist. She has showcased her work at schools, libraries, Aurora Public Art, the Naperville Art League, and notably at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Wentz Hall. Her art has earned several awards and recognitions, including "Best of Show." Her passion for artistic expression continues to inspire her community involvement, motivating Ward 10 residents to engage in various artistic activities.

Shweta resides in the Lehigh Station neighborhood of Aurora with her husband and two children. She currently serves as a member of the Rules, Administration, and Procedures (RAP) Committee and the Infrastructure and Technology (I&T) Committee.
