With the recent election of Alderman At-Large John Laesch as the 60th Mayor of Aurora, the City of Aurora has officially opened the process to appoint a new Alderman-at-Large to fill the resulting vacancy on the Aurora City Council.

In accordance with City ordinance, the Mayor has the authority to appoint an individual to serve the remainder of the unexpired four-year term through the next general municipal election, scheduled for April 2027.

With the application process ongoing, the Mayor's Office will review all applicants and conduct interviews with selected candidates.
