Garfield Park is an iconic legacy park in Aurora at 825 Sheffer Road.

The City of Aurora intends to renovate this century-old family recreation destination and has received a $600,000 grant through the Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development Program (OSLAD) to help fund the project.

This renovation will be carried out in phases. In Phase I, the goal is to improve the park's western section from Sheridan Street on the west up to the existing baseball fields on the east. Proposed improvements include a modernized playground, a new splash pad, new sports facilities, better parking, and improved amenities to the park. The new sports facilities would include an improved sand volleyball court, half-court for basketball, and a street soccer pitch. Plans also include a renovated picnic shelter and improved bathroom facilities at the park.

Future phases will expand the park to include land on the far east side of the park currently occupied by Aurora Fire Station 4.

A formal construction timeline has not been developed yet, but is currently being worked on.
