Juany Garza is the first elected Hispanic Alderwoman in Aurora, coming into office in April 2005. Born in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Alderwoman Garza came to the United States in 1971.

Alderwoman Garza received her degree as an elementary teacher in Mexico and now is a successful business woman. Alderwoman Garza is the president of J&G Insurance in Villa Park.

Alderwoman Garza has been serving communities since 1978, when she volunteered at her daughter's kindergarten school in 1978. Since then, Alderwoman Garza has been involved in several organizations, including:

  • New Horizons - 1979 to 1980; an organization that focuses on improving literacy within the Hispanic community.
  • Kiwanis Club - 1982 to1987; a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis focuses on the special needs of children, from prenatal development to age five.
  • Cermak Road Chamber of Commerce and Industry - 1987 to 2004; Alderman Garza served for 4 years as the treasurer.
  • LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) - 1987 to 2004; whose mission is to advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, and the health and civil rights of the Hispanic population of the United States.
  • Hispanic Civic Alliance of Illinois - 2002 to 2005
  • Community United for the 21st Century - 2005 to 2006

Alderwoman Garza is the Chairperson on the Infrastructure and Technology Committee (I&T) and member of the Public Health, Safety, and Transportation (PHST) Committee.

Alderwoman Garza has three children: Marbella, Ricardo, and Hafid; and is the loving grandmother of Isabel Duran, Madelyne Eve Muniz, Roman Muniz, Ben Cristobal, and Jacob Cristobal.


Juany Garza es la primera concejala hispana electa en Aurora, y asumió el cargo en abril de 2005. Nacida el 3 de diciembre de 1954 en Monterrey, Nuevo León, México, la concejala Garza llegó a los Estados Unidos en 1971.

La concejala Garza se licenció como maestra de primaria en México y ahora es una exitosa mujer de negocios. La concejala Garza es la presidenta de J&G Insurance en Villa Park.

La concejala Garza ha estado trabajando con las comunidades desde 1978, cuando fue voluntaria en el jardín de infantes de su hija en 1978. Desde entonces, la concejala Garza ha estado involucrada en varias organizaciones, entre ellas:

• New Horizons - 1979 a 1980; una organización que se enfoca en mejorar la alfabetización dentro de la comunidad hispana.

• Kiwanis Club - 1982 a 1987; una organización global de voluntarios dedicados a cambiar el mundo, un niño y una comunidad a la vez. Kiwanis se enfoca en las necesidades especiales de los niños, desde el desarrollo prenatal hasta los cinco años.

• Cermak Road Chamber of Commerce and Industry - 1987 a 2004; la concejala Garza sirvió durante 4 años como tesorera.

• LULAC (Liga de Ciudadanos Latinoamericanos Unidos) - 1987 a 2004; cuya misión es mejorar la condición económica, el logro educativo, la influencia política y la salud y los derechos civiles de la población hispana de los Estados Unidos.

    Join Ward 2 Alderwoman Juany Garza for her annual Ward 2 Easter Egg Hunt!

    Taking place at McCarty Park on Sunday, April 20 from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M., the event provides children ages 0-10 with an opportunity to find Easter eggs, plus visit with the Easter Bunny!


    El evento, que se llevará a cabo en el Parque McCarty el domingo 20 de abril de 12:30 p.m. a 1:30 p.m., ofrece a niños de 0 a 10 años la oportunidad de encontrar huevos de Pascua y, además, visitar al Conejo de Pascua.

    myAurora 311 allows residents to access a new online customer support center, a new mobile application, available for download in the App Store and Google Play, an upgraded phone service, and an enhanced in-person customer service location, set to open in late 2025.

    With new calls and cases expected, the City's current in-person customer service call center, located at 3770 McCoy Drive, will also expand its hours, now being open from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M., Monday through Friday!

    The system allows customers to submit cases, such as street maintenance and repair requests, garbage or debris issues, unsafe structures, and more through the mobile app, online, or by dialing “3-1-1" when residing within City limits.
