Edward Bugg has been a resident of Aurora’s Far Southeast side since he and his wife had their home built in 2004.

Since moving to Aurora, Edward has become involved with numerous local organizations. In 2013, he was elected Alderman of Aurora’s Ninth Ward and was re-elected in both 2017 and 2021. Alderman Bugg currently serves as the Chairperson of the Rules, Administration, and Procedures (RAP) Committee, a member of the Finance Committee, and a member of the Public Health, Safety, and Transportation (PHST) Committee.

As Alderman, Bugg has worked with local residents to build a dynamic, vibrant Community and in 2019 Aurora’s Ninth Ward was the #1 Community for Millennials to move to in Illinois to raise a family.

Aside from his role with the City, Edward serves on the Boards of Grace Community Christian Church, The ALIVE Center, and Remington Crossing Homeowners Association. Before moving to Aurora, he served as the Executive Secretary of the Park Forest Community Development Cooperation.

Edward's educational background includes both a degree in Business from Eastern Illinois University and a Law degree from the University Of Illinois College Of Law. He has worked in both the business and legal fields for various levels of government and as the Vice-President of an Arbitration/Mediation firm in the private sector.

Edward and his wife Beth have 3 children. They are involved in the local schools, various sports leagues and volunteer at Feed My Starving Children and the Aurora Inter-Faith Food Pantry.

    The City of Aurora, in partnership with RiverEdge Park and the Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board, is excited to announce that Fiestas Patrias is returning to RiverEdge Park on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13!

    Gates open on Saturday, September 12 at 3:30 P.M. Opening acts include Aurora’s own Ballet Folklorico at 4 P.M., Los Creyentes del Poder at 5 P.M., Grupo Furisoso at 6:30 P.M., an onstage ceremony recognizing scholarship recipients at 7:45 P.M., and headliner Banda Carnaval at 8:30 P.M.

    Gates open at 3 P.M. on Sunday, September 13. The festival kicks off with Los Aces Del Norte at 3:30 P.M., the annual Parade of Nations at 4:30 P.M., Grupo Mandingo at 5:15 P.M., La Fiera de Ojinaga at 6:45 P.M., El Grito at 8 P.M., and La Maquinaria Norteña at 8:45 P.M.

    Tickets are on sale now! Each day, tickets will cost $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Due to popular demand, there is no guarantee that tickets will be available for purchase in person during the festival.

This interactive and educational event provides children with the opportunity to learn about their community, explore various professions, and get up close with the vehicles used for those jobs. The event will be held at the Phillips Park Family Aquatic Center on Saturday, September 19th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and it will be free for all attendees.
