Edward Bugg has been a resident of Aurora’s Far Southeast side since he and his wife had their home built in 2004.

Since moving to Aurora, Edward has become involved with numerous local organizations. In 2013, he was elected Alderman of Aurora’s Ninth Ward and was re-elected in both 2017 and 2021. Alderman Bugg currently serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Finance Committee of the Aurora City Council and is a member of the Rules, Administration, and Procedures (RAP) Committee.

As Alderman, Bugg has worked with local residents to build a dynamic, vibrant Community and in 2019 Aurora’s Ninth Ward was the #1 Community for Millennials to move to in Illinois to raise a family.

Aside from his role with the City, Edward serves on the Boards of Grace Community Christian Church, The ALIVE Center, and Remington Crossing Homeowners Association. Before moving to Aurora, he served as the Executive Secretary of the Park Forest Community Development Cooperation.

Edward's educational background includes both a degree in Business from Eastern Illinois University and a Law degree from the University Of Illinois College Of Law. He has worked in both the business and legal fields for various levels of government and as the Vice -President of an Arbitration/ Mediation firm in the private sector.

Edward and his wife Beth have 3 children. They are involved in the local schools, various sports leagues and volunteer at Feed My Starving Children and the Aurora Inter-Faith Food Pantry.

    The Fourth Annual Free Pictures With Santa Event, hosted by the City of Aurora's Financial Empowerment Center, will take place on Saturday, November 30th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Prisco Community Center (150 W. Illinois Avenue).

    Food, free photos with Santa, holiday-themed activities for children, and resources from community partners and financial supporters will be available!

    The first 1,000 kids to attend will also receive a free toy kit!

    The City of Aurora's annual Gifts from Home program honors active military personnel from Aurora by providing them with a holiday package, including a gift card to use for online purchase and a personalized letter.

    The City of Lights Film Festival Opens on Friday, November 8. The Aurora-premiere of the family dramedy ALL HAPPY FAMILIES, shot and set in Chicago, will take place at Two Brothers Roundhouse in downtown Aurora.

    Cast and crew from the film will join festival goers in the Tavern Room during the festival’s opening night—which will feature a cocktail hour, community panel with local film organizations, and a Q&A with the talent behind ALL HAPPY FAMILIES.

    Day two of the 2nd annual film festival will start at 11 A.M. on Saturday, November 9 and run all day, as independent films will screen across three different venues in downtown Aurora. Documentaries, features, and short films will be shown alongside the festival’s newest entry, music videos.

    Films selected for entry include the 2024 Sundance Official Selection, GOOD ONE, and the Spanish-language documentary BRIMSTONE & GLORY, which centers the community of Tultepec, Mexico—home of the National Pyrotechnic Festival, which celebrates San Juan de Dios, patron saint of firework makers.

    Saturday night will close the festival at The Venue (21 S Broadway), where Cole Bennett—founder of music video production company, Lyrical Lemonade—will be on-site to speak about his history directing artists in Chicago, building a brand, and media production at large.

    Tickets to the festival are available now at www.aurora-il.org/FilmFestival. Patrons can join the City of Lights Film Festival on Friday night, for Saturday screenings, Saturday night—or all three! Popcorn provided by Garrett Popcorn Shops.

    Groot Waste Management will collect yard waste bags containing leaves, without requiring a sticker, for six weeks!


    The collection period will take place from October 21 through December 6. Leaves must be placed in a 30-gallon Kraft paper yard waste bag and placed at the curb on your regularly scheduled garbage date.
